One of the true leaders at Capstone is Jim Ward. Jim is a rare individual and a fine man. Few people have developed his sense of commitment and perseverance toward achieving their life-goals. Jim adds a vital strength to the Capstone team with his knowledge, experience, enthusiasm, and his personal character. He has a good nose for smelling out the hot trails in therapy. In other words, Jim has a sense that reads between the lines in figuring out what's going on with adolescents and their families. I am so thankful to have him as a part of Capstone and I hope that he always will be. We try to connect our graduates and graduate families to Celebrate Recovery. Jim has worked hard to learn the nuts and bolts of Celebrate Recovery so he can coach parents on how to either get connected to one or begin one back home. This is not in his job description and I didn’t ask him to do it, he asked me. Jim’s commitment to Capstone residents and families is incredible. He has truly got the heart of a lion and a lamb. Jim loves to rock climb and canoe and enjoys the outdoors. He also likes the city lights of Chicago which is kind of weird to me. Just kidding. Jim has become a good friend to me. I love him and am very proud of the man that he has become. You know how sometimes you get to know somebody and their life story and you just come away in awe of God because of how He chiseled the person into who he was divinely designed to be and then placed them in the battle that he was divinely designed to be in? That’s Jim Ward. If Maximus was meant to fulfill his destiny in Rome, Jim was meant to be at Capstone. During the summer of 2007 it was my privilege to attend Jim’s wedding to Gina in Memphis, TN. Gina is a very special woman who completes Jim, so I am very thankful for her and what she means to him. Jim has a Master of Science Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. He is also a Licensed Professional Counselor under the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling. His favorite scripture is 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: The old has gone, the new has come!” |
