![]() Ryan Butterfield, Psychotherapist I have known Ryan Butterfield since he was born and now he’s one of our oldest therapists. That tells you how old I am, I know. Ryan’s dad, Lou, was one of my mentors when I was a teenager and young adult. Ryan’s wife Paula, his obvious better half, was one of my grad students a couple of years before he was. Ryan has worked for another non profit organization, The Center for Christian Broadcasting, as the Associate Director and board member. They produce series on topics that are very pertinent to adolescents, young adults, and families including relationships, purity, sexuality, pornography, and more. Ryan brings a vast amount of knowledge into the therapist role. Ryan was another foundational member of the class with Galyan and Armitage. The three of them, along with Winter Reeves, have brought a significantly bright contribution to Capstone. Ryan is one of the most sincere people that I have ever known, he’s personable and real, and he is a talent as a therapist. When Ryan is doing therapy you can see his gift and his sincerity in action. He is a runner, often with Charlie, and an expert in one aspect of canoeing. We kid Ryan about one of his outdoor adventure experiences where he and his resident partner learned quickly how to utilize the survival dry bag. They over turned their canoe in the Little Red River in the month of December during a cold spell. The other staff watching the event said that Ryan and the resident were quick as lightning getting out of the water, taking off their life jackets and clothes and getting into the dry clothes from the survival dry bag. Then, a few hundred yards further down stream, they did it again. This time they were experienced and it didn’t take them as long. Of course we have reminded Ryan of this several times. Ryan is an excellent therapist and a great addition to the Capstone team. He married up when he married Paula and they have two children, Sam and Jack. Favorite Scripture: Mark 8:36, “What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?” |
