Two weeks after Family Week, the residents take a nine day wilderness trip into the
Buffalo River National Park. This adventure entails the boys learning how to take ownership and leadership of the expedition. Backpacking, setting up camp, cooking, cleaning, fishing, staying dry, drying out clothes and equipment, spelunking, rappelling, and having to face the challenges, successes, and failures that nature always provides are the experiences where residents grow in their manhood. Yes, some of it is in tough guy manhood, but mostly it is the real man manhood. At Capstone, real manhood is defined as Jesus Christ. God’s real men are males who learn how to face themselves in their mirror and become honest with who they are and who they are becoming.
